How People Learn to Disappear: Before I Disappear
The movie 'Before I Disappear' (2014) is very unsettling to me, not because it talks about attempting to take one's life, but because it felt so familiar in a way that I wasn't prepared to face. The discomfort I had didn't come from watching a character approach the edge but from recognizing the patterns of emotional isolation, exhaustion, and the quiet despair that I already know a little too well. This movie doesn't just showcase a crisis, it also exposes the internal terrain that leads you there. That's where my discomfort comes from, and that is why this story stayed with me.
